Department/Position Overview

The Cancer and Blood Disorder Program at Childrens Minnesota is seeking a Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist to join our growing team. This is an amazing opportunity to work with the largest Pediatric Hematology and Oncology program in the region. Our Cancer and Blood Disorder program is composed of 37 hematology and oncology providers working collaboratively to achieve the best patient outcomes.

The Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program at Childrens Minnesota serves children and young adults with CNS tumors with an integrated, multi-disciplinary, and scientific approach including neuro-surgery, neurology, endocrinology, neuro-pathology, neuro-radiology, radiation oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, palliative care, psychosocial services, fertility preservation, genetics, survivorship, and others.

We have a strong clinical trial program led by Dr. Anne Bendel, Harper Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Novel Therapies and Cancer Research. Dr. Bendel oversees a dedicated neuro-oncology clinical research team including: a research coordinator, 2 research assistants, and a research nurse. We are members of the Childrens Oncology Group (COG), Pacific Pediatric Neuro-oncology Consortium (PNOC), St. Judes Consortium, NEXT Consortium (HeadStart), and numerous other clinical research collaborations.

  • Join a team of 2 Neuro-Oncologists, 1 Neuro-Oncology Nurse Practitioner, and 3 Neuro-Oncology Case Managers.
  • Close collaboration with 4 dedicated neurosurgeons
  • State of the art IMRI Suite, first of its kind in North America
  • The team cares for 55-65 patients with newly diagnosed CNS tumors per year
  • The main focus of practice will be pediatric neuro-oncology responsibilities and will also include periodic general oncology care when on service
  • Overnight call covered by on-site hematology/oncology board certified hospitalists.

Qualifications:
  • This position requires a medical degree (or foreign equivalent), eligibility for MN medical licensure and DEA registration.
  • Eligibility for board certification in pediatric hematology/oncology.
  • Academic inquiry and research are highly valued, but not required.
